What Advice Would You Give Another Woman Wanting To Star Her Own Brand or Business?

I would advise any woman out here starting her own business to stay true to herself and her gift from GOD. Don’t allow the false belief of society or the internet rush what God has for you. It is on HIS time. I believe that as long as you stay consistent you will prosper and flourish in your gift.

Do you work from home with kids there too? If so, how do you tackle both?

These Baddie Hair Bonnets Are Made For The Culture

Every girl with good hair, curls, braids, locks, or wigs knows that it’s best to sleep with a bonnet or scarf and silk or satin are always the best choices. Today’s Friday fave feature goes to Tiffany Stargill, the owner of Baddie Bonnets that are made for the culture. Her hair bonnets are “an absolute must have for protecting natural hairstyles and maintaining moisturized coils and curls.”

I’m in love with all the patterns and colors of course. Here are my favorite top bonnets.

I personally sleep with a scarf every night but now I want one of these!!!

Today’s feature goes to Temari Campbell  of Chicago, Illinois. Temari is the new owner/ founder of Shine by Mari, a cosmetic line currently featuring lip glosses and body mists. After finishing up her logo, I had a chance to try 3 off her lipglosses last month and they are now my favorite everyday go to’s to keep my lips glossed for hours.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I currently have a small cosmetics line that started with six lipgloss colors. I now have 23 colors of lipgloss, four different lip balms scents and four body shimmers. I plan to branch out a little more next year.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO IT?

I started Shine by Mari to create a way for me to support myself while in college. My mom is a single parent and it’s basically just us so I wanted to help alleviate any worry she had on how to put both herself and me through college. I took my love of lipgloss and turned it into a business.

HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?

I try to stay on top of what’s poppin in the world of beauty. I watch videos and read magazines and I people watch a lot. People watching is the best way for me to stay creative. There’s something about a person’s face or style that triggers my brain into having light bulb moments.

WAS THERE EVER A TIME YOU WANTED TO QUIT?

No. I’m still fairly new to this and I’m learning a lot so it’s exciting. Juggling my schoolwork and activities, my job and building my business takes a toll sometimes because I don’t get a lot of sleep but my mom says that’s how you know you’re doing something great.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE ANOTHER YOUNG WOMAN WANTING TO START HER OWN BUSINESS?

Find your passion and pursue it. If it’s something you love, you’ll work harder at it than anything else and don’t stop until you are completely satisfied.

HOW DO YOU STAY ORGANIZED TO KEEP YOUR BUSINESS FLOWING?

My mother. She really helps me in that department because I have so many things to do. The wonderful thing is, she makes sure I do the work. She tells me her opinion, asks what I think and if it’s a good idea. She’d say “Ok, go do it” so I spend a lot of time putting everything in order or finding things to help me stay on top of what’s next.

WHATS YOUR FAVORITE APP TO USE FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

I’m a fan of IG.

ShinebyMari | Shine By Mari Lipgloss | @shinebymari

WHATS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR VERSE?

One that is taped to my mother’s mirror. I’m truly understanding what it means now. James 2:20 “Faith without works is dead” For me it means: To pray and ask God to bless my family, and I thank Him in advance by doing the work to show Him I’m preparing for the blessing. So not only do I believe He will, I know I’m physically and mentally prepared for when it happens.
